I live pretty close to an athletics field, I've been abusing the track lately, doing a day on day off deal.
Day 1 Run 3 miles minimum.
Day 2 Upper body abuse.
[repeat]
Rain, hail, sleet and snow I'm out on the track, a few days ago it was horrific weather, gale winds, rain coming sideways and bouncing up 6 feet of the ground, I looked like a maniac on the track, getting funny looks from people walking their dogs
2.5 weeks ago i was 16st, this week im down to 14st 5lb, I've heavily moderated my diet, plenty of fresh veg, fish and small amounts of meat. Intakes maxed at 1000cal a day, typically as low as 500 though, sometimes even less.
The problem I'm coming up against is I stitch on the first lap, and cant seem to work through it. any runners have any tips? my breathing is also a nightmare, cant seem to get air into my lungs fast enough, shit burns
I wind up doing a lap, hitting the brick wall and dialling it back to a walk, run the straights, walk the curves... don't get me wrong, my hearts beating like a ~~~~ed clock constantly but it could be higher still and it pisses me off (the rage only fuels my self abuse though so its all good)
I'm planning on keeping the running and dropping the upper body (press ups, pull ups, crunches and the like with a fair bit of stretching and aerobics) once I hit just below 13st (im 6'3" any less weight and id look like a crack head), then moving on to weight training instead. Figure by the end of this month i should be abusing the gym instead of simple aerobics.
Just looking to get back into tone before I tweak my diet back to sane levels and start bulking up a bit. The good news is I can now see my wedding tackle in the shower, without the aid of a complicated rope, pulley and mirror set up
and feel like I'm back in my twenties, full of energy like a walking hard on!
So yeah shit seems to be working at a lightning pace (don't get me wrong I'm sore pretty much constantly) the only thing holding me back is my ignorance about breathing technique and being unable to work through a stitch.
Any tips?
