Scam Email from the Inland Revenue

Received an email, alledgedly from the Inland Revenue.... here's what it said... the worry is, how many people believe it?

Just had to do this because it said the contents are 'confidential'

There's also an attachment to download giving a weblink, so you can enter your credit card details, along with your mother's maiden name... Trouble is, you will not be credited with the amount, you'll be debited.

Don't think folks on DK will be fooled by this... but thought it is something we've to be aware of, for friends and family that might think it's genuine...

The Inland Revenue, Council Tax or any government agency will never contact you by email... detailing that they are owing you money.

The prats that come up with these must think everyone is thick.

I have never given the inland revenue my mothers maiden name, who uses the words "embossed on card" and why should I enter the refund amount on the form...on top of getting the e-mail anyway as I never gave them any of my e-mail addresses.

Not that I got one but they are my initial thoughts on seeing your bonus. Like you said they will never contact you in this way.

This idea about posting fake card details to the link had crossed my mind..... The link contains an ActiveX control, which is most probably a virus... I hope my anti-virus has killed it...

Honest... don't think it would be wise to entertain with fake details... who knows what harm it can do to your own computer..
