Alba TV has white line down screen

The boy has a 16" Alba tv in his bedroom to play xbox etc on. He has had it 18 months, and it now has a white line down the right side of the screen, and a small line at the bottom right hand side across making a small box. I am assuming the screen is ~~~~ed

My question is, can this be repaired cheaply or is it best to just buy another one?

18 months.. I'd be writing to Alba UK and quoting 'merchantable quality'

Dont samsung tv's have similar issues. I have read of this happening within weeks of purchase with samsungs.

as opsmonkey said get on to alba tell them that it is completely unacceptable for a tv to be facing such faults at that age before putting your hand in your pocket. Its worth a shot
