    water softener recommendations

hi all im thinking of getting wawater softener for my house as the levels of lime is very high
i have my own well out the back in a pump house

i was wondering if anyone knew anything about them and maybe where to buy them

what should i look out for when purchasing one is it just a lime scale remover or is there one that removes chemicals etc

i found this site online Water softener, water softeners, water softner, water softening Ireland :: Water2buy
and was thinking of purchasing from it if there was any good ones on it or maybe theres other sites ye might know of that supply them to ireland

also is there mush to installing them i cant really see there been much theres electricity in the shed already take it its just a matter of spliiting pipe and connecting it either side of the filtration unit then drill a pipe out through the wall for it to flush itself out

You want a metered flow, simplex or duplex softener. Metered flow regenerates when needed (timer types just guess and cost a fortune to run). A simplex system bypasses the only resin bed when regenerating so you get some unsoftened water whilst it regenerates (not much as usually overnight) a duplex has 2 resin beds and so it just swaps over from one to other, but are a bit more unreliable. You need to keep drinking water (at least main kitchen tap) unsoftened as the sodium content isn't good for you.

cheers mate i eneded up buying this one a few days ago and installed it today

i havent installed the carbon filter yet but i presume that will filter the sodium and other particles from the water thats softened
