Leaking towel radiator valve

Have a newish towel radiator that has sprung a leak.

It is leaking from what I would describe as the hexagonal? ring that tightens down onto the volume control part of the valve!

I have crimped it up several times and it seems to stop but once the heating has been on and the rad then cools its starts to drip again.

It has leaked in the same way from both valves (other one is at the moment OK).

Wondering is there is anything I can do other than replace what seems to be dodgy valves?

Any help appreciated.

whatever you do will be a temp solution anyway and it may occur again, id get the valve replaced.

Sounds like the olive isn't sealing... Are you giving it plenty of ooomf on the spanners?
If it is dead tight, you'll need the joint redoing..

For information only. You didn't say if it was combi or not. As zee says if leaking from centre of valve replace them they are about tenner for pair if they are just leaking at nut then get ptfe tape wrapped around olive and re tighten.

Combi boiler and its the central valve yes.

Has caused problems with pressure dropping.

Not being a plumber it's a pain having to get one for such a piffling job!

yes new valves as had the issue with rads and once replaced never looked back,started using a new product called ls-x by fernox it is a jointing compound and external leak sealer,bit like the stinky silicone sealant.

I think from your description that the bit your on about is actually called a gland & doesn't have an olive, some have a tiny o-ring in. If you've tightened it up and it still leaks try undoing it and wrap some ptfe around it, if that fails then you will need to replace the valve

Thanks scottyboi,seems to have fixed itself at the moment so going to leave well alone.

Mrs is under strict instructions to not touch it....EVER!!

If I were you I would look for a good plumber and get it fixed for good, suppose pipe burst on Christmas day in the morning, water half way on the ceiling then what?????
