    Asbestos garage roof

I have an old 1970,s garage roof which has a corrugated asbestos roof.
Its been leaking badly in a few places so a local company undertook the job if repairing it.
They came during the week and cleaned it.
Today I've noticed that this material which I can describe as lint is covered over my walls my windows and my decking which surrounds my garage.
As I wasn't in when the cleaning process was undertaken I strongly suspect the contractor has used a pressure hose to clean the roof. Now I'm extremely worried that the lint I'm looking at is asbestos fibres.
Have a look at this picture and tell me what you think.
I have been unable to contact the contractor for two days but have left a message on his phone.

I would take a sample and send it off for testing to be 100% sure. They could be in big trouble with the HSE if it is.
It only costs about a tenner for sampling to be done.

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

They look small and not very spikey or angular for asbestos - from what can be seen on the picture.
So I hope its not asbestos fibres! look on google for picture etc to see what I mean.
Is the white specks from a spray coating over-spray they used to seal the panels?
lets hope you can get in touch with them soon?
I'm not an expert just I had to consider the asbestos risk of an cementos asbestos roof panel, it was a low risk form of asbestos the advice then was leave alone but be careful of any mechanical action like cutting, drilling or wrong paint(delaminates) that might release fibres.
        Hope this helps

White asbestos is not spikey the fibres are curved. The only way to know for sure is to get a sample tested.

Ok guys I finally got him on the phone and he said that they used a pressure hose with a special nozzle.
I've done some googling and as far as I can make out they have to use a closed box method for asbestos cement corrugated panels. Its like the patio cleaner attachment that you would use at home.
As far as I'm concerned they've used a standard nozzle as the spray has went absolutely everywhere, its even over my neighbours walls windows and roof line. I've not spotted it till now because of the rain and darkness when I go to work and come home. The guys coming back tomorrow to clean it up, but I'm extremely concerned. Do you think I should phone the health and safety executive.

Yes mate most definately. There is no such thing as low risk asbestos. All asbestos is a killer full stop. They have put you your family and neighbours at risk of exposure. Contact the HSE immediately. That company will continue to work in a careless manner if they are not brought to task.

a roof being cleaned here with steam?
steam cleaning an asbestos roof - YouTube
Might not be as bad as you fear, prehaps the white stuff is only the dirty build up washed off no asbestos fibres released the bonding is quite strong, pressure cleaning is a HSE approved method
Leaving crap every where is not nice though,
maybe see what he has to say tomorrow before you escalate!

Garage roofs ect are usually bonded and not too bad unless you smash or break it up, all asbestos is supposed to be double bagged and properly disposed. Make sure your masked up even if just around it

Talking about bad practice when i was a bin man we used to take the odd few and crush them, cant imagine it done us any good fibres everywhere.
