Experience of Marcotting Air layering

Hi

Just wondering if anyone experienced with marcotting /air layering trees.

I want to know whether air layered specimen will grow faster after allowing it to grow in pots and develop air dense root system or transfer to soil and let it grow.

Would too dense root affect plant growth by starving the plant fof nutrients? (if plant is allowed to develop in a pot)
