    planting fruit trees

    im looking to plant two apple trees and two plum trees in my garden and maybe a cherry tree
    lidl are selling root plants for a fiver each at the minute

    does anyone no what i should look for on the plants ie growth wise straight main root etc also do cherry or pear trees need to cross pollinate like apple trees

    just make sure there is plenty of fibres roots and thre not dried out not sure about the second qustion just googl it .

      i would have thought the label would have that info like self or cross pollenate

        i checked them alrigh there was symbols on it alright for the height they grow etc
        il check again tomorrow

          The saplings will be bare rooted and I would wait a few weeks before planting out, the ground is a bit to soggy at the moment.

          most fruit trees have been bred to be self pollinating
