Look which ever way you look at Saddam or Gaddafi or others they were just not fit to look after there own people, just look at Iran now its now looking like the west undependable.

Those dictators will slaughter the last person in order to remain in power so were do you drew the line, if any Govt behave within the law, I can not see the west can just go and start the war, look at the living proof, the west wanted to go to war with Iran but as long as they can not find any excuse most west have now join in. The bottom line is you do not go slaughtering your own people, that is could genocide. Next may be Saudi Arabia.

I am English and very patriotic and would defend my country to the hilt from any invasion. I guess that a lot of Libyans feel the same way because their civil war does not have enough people to over throw the current regime. From that I can conclude that the only way Gadaffi will go is if he is bombed out, and that will lead to a long and disastrous civil war and will aggrieve a lot of people. Back to more terrorism - as if we didn't have enough.

The 'rebels' are not civilians, they are people with guns and tanks breaking the law. So they are legitimate targets. If a bunch of us (including Meat Head) wanted to over throw our royal family and marched on London after raiding an arms depot - firing our guns - would we be allowed - errr.. certainly not.

It is quite conceivable that the Arab league could turn against the western nations because of this - and the reason being that the west are legitimising this invasion by using the UN resolution; however their are a number of resolutions on Israel that are not enforced and Israel are allowed to persecute Palestinians - and the UN (America, France, England etc) do not a thing about it.

Sorry for the rant but there is no way that British forces or even westetn forces should be their. Leave it to the Arab league.

Or do you think its a good idea to neutralise any potential threats first ???

Long as it's a no fly by either side and air defences are neutralised on both sides to even out the playing field. Once the civilians are out of the way then they should get on with their civil war and get it out of the way without the use of planes.

Seems the 'west' were quite happy for him to kill them for quite a long time, same as they were for Saddam and the Shah of Iran. Perhaps I'm just being cynical as usual.

Sorry mate, but that is utter cods wallop - if Iran, India or Pakistan started bombing us from afar would you say they were not invading us? I would class that as invading our territory.
