    Cancer - can we help

in light of the fact thats its 2 yrs today that Jade Goody died and the sad passing of davidh from dw i wondered if we as a forum could raise any money as a 1 off for a cancer charity. im sure we all have known someone close that this terrible disease has taken. imagine if we all put in a ? or ?2 how much we could raise.

not sure if this kind of post is allowed but would appreciate feedback..

my mom died of cancer and i used to give whenever i could lainie; but this culture of charity mugging where they TELL you how much you have to give and how often, put the kibosh on me giving cancer charities anything im afraid
    Fave replies from various threads

1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

yeah i know what you mean - i NEVER give to those that ask.

however it could be macmillan nurses, marie curie, hospice, CLIC sargent etc. i know i feel better for trying to make a difference no matter how small it may be.

i lost my dad to lung cancer nearly 24 yrs ago - he was 56 and whats worrying is that still so many are taken way before their time.

I already donate to the Macmillan nurses but yes I would be happy to give something extra Lainie.

        Excellent idea.

Same here I have a monthly direct debit as I've lost my Mother and a few friends to Cancer. I'd be up for giving.

taking into account that according to the figures DK has a total of 230,015, if we all donated say ?1 to a charity say every 3 month that would be a worth while task.

But the charities would have to be agreed each time by members votes and receipts published on site for the donation.

I think the link above set up by David would be the only way to donate if it's directly related to him..

Like a lot of others I regularly donate to charity.. It comes direct out of my wages.. There are so many about these days I think it's up to the individual to actively seek once they feel most close to..

I don't mind sponsoring people who do things for charity as i think it's very commendable to do things like run a Marathon or scale a mountain to help raise money as they are massive personal and physical challenges..

I donate to those I feel most conection to..

Sorry but I'm out on this, if I gave to every charity I saw I'd be in need of charity

this one means a lot to me also as i lost a dear friend only 46 last year to cancer and my neighbour 38years young,,he was very well looked after by the doctors and nurses at a local hospice, but beyond that the care was appalling, and thats no exageration,,you wouldnt treat your dog like my mate was treated let alone a human,i donate to the hospice, they were absolutely amazing the whole way through,,i know everyone has a different story when it comes to care for patients but the contrast is unbelievable
another fact that really bugs me with cancer is that the drug companys who make billions from there cancer drugs spend zero on prevention, that says it all for me,and then you get people stopping you in the high street for donations etc,i always tell them the above reason for not making a donation to them, most are quite taken aback
