just found out my good friends son has been killed in afgan he was also a good friend of mine just thinking back was there for hes christing.wedding now i go be ther for hes funeral and all for what i no he the risks when he joined up but no one expects to die at there job and not for the reasons the goverments give the terrorists are already here not over there so so long mark kirkby has lost a good one and remember YNWA lad

You dont actually believe he's still alive do you ? It's a no win situation, it's costing millions of pounds a day to fight the Taliban and still they keep coming back.
They have no life where they are in the small villages, they get offered a few pounds and a chance to bag a few virgins when they die. It's a small fortune to these people, enough for them to look after their families for a while. The downsIde for them is very few survive but this doesn't deter further recruitment from those same villages, and so on it continues

I feel sorry for any family who have lost their son or daughter to any war and they are allways left asking questions. WHY?
But and I dont mean any ill will to no family but if you take a job in the armed forces you have to seriously give it thought about what your doing.
Gone are the days of a free tour round the world. They are trained to KILL.
You dont get to pick and choose what war you like or dont like.
A brave bunch every last one of them but its now the risk of the job.Comment

As you said, you can't pick and choose. Of course it's a risk and they're all aware of it and ready and prepared. If you don't believe in say, the war Afghan, tough shit, you still have to go. It doesn't make it one iota any easier on the families of those who have died at war, and i never could or will understand people who say they knew the risk it's one of those things.
