The terrifying moment lorry driver came face to face...

...with car driving wrong way up dual carriageway

    • Woman, 20, charged with dangerous driving

It must have been when she rounded the bend on the slip road that it dawned on the driver of this little car that she was going in the wrong direction.

Thundering up the ramp straight towards her was a huge articulated lorry.

What happened next was captured in these startling images taken from the GPS camera system in the cab of a second lorry that was still on the main carriageway.

Scroll down to see the terrifying video

Nowhere to go: The Vauxhall Astro comes hurtling out of the exit - the wrong way - and clips the lorry, which causes it to jackknife across the road

Collision course: As the car comes out of the exit lane, neither driver has anywhere to go

The woman driver of the Vauxhall Corsa is seen joining the A90 in Scotland ? via the exit slip road.

She swerves to avoid the lorry on the exit ramp and ends up heading straight into the path of the one carrying the Roadhawk GPS camera.

The Corsa driver then turns away and strikes the first lorry, wrecking her car.

But the collision causes the huge juggernaut to lose balance, topple over and scarily jackknife across the busy road before coming to a halt in shrubbery, on its side.

    An eerie silence follows.

Amazingly, no one was injured when the incident took place last Tuesday outside Aberdeen.

Jackknifed: The 44-tonne truck's cement bags are shown scattered across the A90 road, near to Aberdeen

Down but not out: The Roadhawk GPS camera shows the lorry, on its side, coming to a halt at the side of the dual carriageway

The footage - and the pictures which were taken at the scene - show that as the truck rolls, dozens of cement bags are dramatically spewed all over the road.

Grampian Police had to close the road for six hours while highway workers cleared the carriageway.

And the police confirmed that a 20-year-old woman, who was driving the Corsa, has been charged with dangerous driving.

The Roadhawk GPS - a tracking system fitted to vehicles which includes video and a map, like a car black box recorder - helped police work out what had happened.

The young motorist will have a date in court in the coming weeks, though the YouTube video has become a hit and since it was uploaded, on Saturday, it has received nearly 40,000 hits.

Blind spot: This is where the lorry driver first glimpses the oncoming car, who swerves out of the way of the first truck and into the path of the second

A Crown Office spokesman told MailOnline: 'The Procurator Fiscal at Aberdeen has received a report concerning a 20-year-old woman in relation to an incident on the A90 on 22 March 2011.

    'The matter remains under consideration.'
