Nowhere near! Where did you get that figure from?

There are approx 61 million people in UK, and the most recent figures published show about 3.1 million on the database.

That's roughly 1 in 20, about one sixth of your figure.

They had a guy do that here too in Newark airport last year. Cops were looking for a guy aiming a green laser into planes while taking off and landing.

The news also did a mock up of someone outside shooting a green laser in the cockpit. Wow! that thing bounced everywhere!

May be a stupid question to ask but how far this man was from the airport runaway to aim the gun and the distance of the travel of the green laser to the flight control pilot?

Criminal record checks in the UK are NOT available to the public. Only the police can search a person's criminal record using the Police National Computer (PCN) and only with the subject's authorisation. I'd be very wary of that site.

Agreed. UK Public Archives seems to be a scam site if you check it out.

Ebay can be fussy about a lasers strength, Chinese importers not so much, Dealextreme maybe?

Lol have you got some planes that require taking down.. only kidding mate.

Its amazing tho that a man of that age would do something as dangerous/childish and rediculous as that,i mean what exactly was this bafoons plan,i think they should throw the book at him to make an example of how potentially dangerous these lazer pens really can be if not used for the purpose they were originally designed for in the first place.

Ebay is a two edged sword when it comes to lasers. The rules state that lasers have to be below 5mW output, but sellers do list lasers over that output.... only the info isn't placed on the listing.

A 5mW laser is really weak & cheap. Where a more powerful 50mW laser costs more & has a visible beam of over a mile.

But because they list everything as <5mW you will have no comeback if you think you're buying a higher output than you receive.
