I'll give you ?8,000 and that's my vinyl offer

Nice little earner ... cover of Sex Pistols single

THOSE dusty old records you have replaced long ago with CDs and MP3s might be worth more than you think.

Shrewd investors are looking beyond fine wines and artworks to traditional vinyl albums and singles, sending the prices of rare classics spinning through the roof.

An original A&M copy of God Save The Queen by the Sex Pistols is the most collectable vinyl disc in history.

Legend .. Led Zep's Jimmy Page

It is estimated to be worth more than ?8,000 - but with massive potential to increase.

The record went to No2 in June 1977.

The Beatles' first album, Please Please Me, is the second most collectable disc, valued at around ?3,500, although pristine copies can fetch much more.

Debut self-titled releases from the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin - with guitar hero Jimmy Page - in good nick are now worth upwards of ?1,000.

Record Collector mag has compiled the list of the best vinyl records for investors.

If you can grab any of them now, they are likely to be worth a fortune in the future.

Editor Ian McCann said: "There is something of an investment market in mint-condition copies of iconic albums.

The problem is people love them and play them to death, making it rare to find them in mint condition."

The rarest records in the world can fetch small fortunes.

Cash in the attic ... covers of records by The Beatles, Hank Mobley and Pink Floyd

The most valuable - at ?150,000 - is That'll Be The Day by The Quarrymen, the band that became The Beatles.

There is only one copy in the world - which Paul McCartney owns.

    That's some record.

I was into all that some years ago and had a few collectables including David Bowie The Man Who Sold The World original drag/textured/Mercury issue, Isle of Wight/Atlanta Pop Festival LP and Mushroom LP Boil The Breakfast early and soon realized that ,like having the Mona Lisa, it was only valuable if someone wanted to buy it.
Eventually gave them away in a job lot of 1000 lps and 1500 singles, keeping only my favorites (about 250 records)
