the ONLY halal way is when a person and NOT a recording recites a verse, also a machine slaughtering does not count, stunning is NOT permissable.

You know I couldn't watch that. I've seen some sick shit online. To name a few: Unknown Russian Soldier (very horrific), The Dagestan Massacre, Colombian Drug Cartel member being beheaded and skinned, the russian teens murdering the guy with a hammer etc etc and I found them all pretty disturbing, but I can't do animals and kids. I wouldn't sleep for a week.Comment

I'll try and not start a whole argument here but PLEASE see it this way...
Halal food is what Muslims must only eat... other religions may not have a requirement of preparing food in a specific way. It makes no difference to you if its halal SO WHY COMPLAIN?????

The UK is over 70% Christian (Catholics are Christians too). Culture and religion are not neccessarily the same thing despite being mutually interwined. Despite Christianity being the prevailing religion, the UK is largely irreligious and only a small percentage of christians attend church regularly.
The UK is very tolerant of other cultures and religions, and rightly so, but tolerance has limits. IMO, we have an obligation not to interfere in the religious practices of others, but only insofar as those practices do NOT oppress or cause unnecessary suffering to ANY living creature. Suppose a community of immigrants from a rural, tribal area of Afghanistan wish to stone to death a woman adjudged to have committed adultery. Should we let them in the name of multiculturalism? Or what if Christian fundamentalists wish to put to death a homosexual in their community? Is the person who speaks who against these practices a bigot, or in the former case, a xenophobe?
Halal slaughter crosses the tolerance line for me. One poster on this thread mentioned the fact that stunning the animal before slaughter is not permissable. If this is the case, then the practice should be banned outright. Treating animals ethically is part of our core value system in the UK. If your beliefs dictate that you need to cut an animals throat while it's still alive, then fine, but goto a country where this is considered acceptable. This is not religious persecution or racism - it's basic humanity. By sheer contrast, show me a Muslim nation that doesn't persecute other religions? There aren't too many.Halal food is what Muslims must only eat... other religions may not have a requirement of preparing food in a specific way. It makes no difference to you if its halal SO WHY COMPLAIN?????
Yeah, thanks for that little gem of wisdom.an animal is an animal... HUMANE!!!! DERIVES FROM THE WORD HUMANITY... HUMANS!!!Comment

This is from personal experience that I have seen myself for a halal meat producer in the midlands. The are devout muslims and would not sell meat as halal unless they personally believed it was. There is also a message from a meat producer here stating that abattoirs in the UK stun the animals.

Dutch consider banning animal slaughter
Jews from the time of giving of the Ten Commandments until the present. Rules for kosher slaughtering of animals developed from the rules of the sacrificial system in the Temple. By the time of the Rabbis - at least 2000 years ago - Jews took the lives of animals as humanely as possible according to the best science of the day.
During those 3000 and more years, animals were slaughtered in the most inhumane ways by virtually every people on the face of the earth. This inhumane slaughtering continues today in more places in the world than not.
In addition to being lifted up, a ritual slaughterer must move to the animal quickly, use a knife that is incredibly sharp and without even the slightest nick, and cut through the animal's trachea and esophagus in a single motion (at least one of these for fowl). All this is required in order to try to minimize the animal's suffering. Is could throught cut.
The ultimate question is whether it is possible to kill an animal without causing some pain and fear? Given the answer is not definitely positive, Judaism has endorsed vegetarianism - which does not require killing an animal - as a "higher" form of eating.
In sum, you can reassure your son that kosher slaughtering is the way that Jews try to minimize the pain and fear felt by animals being killed for food.

One of Europe's first countries to allow Jews to practice their religion openly may soon pass a law banning centuries-old Jewish and Muslim traditions on the ritual slaughter of animals.
In the Netherlands, an unlikely alliance of an animal rights party and the xenophobic Freedom Party is spearheading support for the ban on kosher and halal slaughter methods that critics say inflict unacceptable suffering on animals.

KFC trial Halal chicken
Now thats...FINGER LICKING GOOD!
This makes complete sense from a business point of view as this will open up the fast food market to Asian(Muslim) customers.
It should make no difference to anybody who is not of Muslim belief.
Even supermarkets are stocking HALAL food. Just been to Tesco and seen halal, chicken, mince, lamb chops, lamb shoulder/leg and even halal sausages.
And this method of killing the animal(s) has been going on for XXX amount of years so its nothing new.
And NO, Muslims dont deliberately make the animals suffer, just for the fun of it, its just the way its done.SLOWLY, OUR FREEDOM IS BEING ERASED.
SOON, WE WILL JUST BE A NUMBER.
IF WE DON'T FOLLOW, WE WILL BE ERASED.Comment

Their beliefs and practices differ greatly though, all religions follow flawed systems of worship based on the lies and corruption of men. Would happily compare notes but I just realised you own a pit, which is way more important."What we've got here is failure to communicate."Comment
