Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden is dead, according to US media reports citing officials.

The US is in possession of Bin Laden's body, the reports say. President Barack Obama is due to make a statement shortly.
Mr Bin Laden is top of the US most wanted list.
He is accused of being behind a number of atrocities, including the attacks on New York and Washington on 11 September 2001.

Osama's body is in possession of the US, having been killed in Pakistan as the result of a US special forces and CIA operation, according to the first leaks of reporting from the US television networks.
President Obama is to make a highly unusual Sunday night live statement to announce the news, around 11pm eastern time.
The news comes eight years to the day that President George Bush declared "Mission accomplished" in Iraq but it is now the unlikely figure of Barack Obama is the commander in chief who announces the final triumph over the focus of so much international attention.
This is a turning point in the global "war on terrorism" that has been waged since 9/11 and the news will reverberate around the world.

9/11 was terrible and once again I am sorry for all people who had lost their lives that day but I also don't like what I see on TV. People celebrating death, tragic.

what i dont undersatnd is how the ~~~~ the worlds most wanted man can have a big ~~~~in mansion built in 2005 with huge walls a hundred yards away from an army base then move in with an entourage and guards next to other houses and they even burnt all there rubbish instead of using bins like everybody else

Just brilliant news that the talisman is dead but i dont think it will make any difference in the long run to the war on terror- The man did good to evade capture for so long but justice caught up with him eventually as it will with all those involved in terrorism.

what really annoys me is that they treated his body with full islamic traditions and buried his body at sea right away. This man did not give a shit about islam and has harmed this peaceful religion beyond repair with his actions. They should have quartered his body and sent it to four continents as a warning to al quada.
