Yorkshire top target in country for lorry thieves

YORKSHIRE has become Britain?s hot spot for criminal gangs targeting trucks and lorries as of heavy goods vehicle thefts surge to record levels in the region.
Figures from the national policing unit for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) crime reveal that in West Yorkshire alone, trucks and lorries are now being stolen at a rate of six per week ? far higher than in any other part of Britain
Road freight crime currently costs the UK more than ?50m a year, and HGV thefts are on the increase across the country as gangs increasingly steal vehicles to order and to ship parts abroad.
But police admit they have no idea why West Yorkshire has seen such a massive spike in offences, soaring to 309 vehicle thefts last year, twice as many as in previous years and some 80 per cent than the next worst-hit area.
Experts said the presence of major arterial routes through the region such as the A1, M1 and M62 was likely to be a key factor behind the crimewave, as gangs from across the country target vehicles passing through or based in this region.

Truck immo, key coding, how the hell criminals stole trucks remains a mystery.

drivers leave the keys in probably i used to all the time especially if your doing multi drop never had a wagon pinched

but i have piched the lads before when i have seen them out on my days off ect and hid it round the corner the look on the faces is priceless

some wagons like bin wagons you have to leave them open with engine running whilst you go and collect bins not so bad on the council the driver stays put but for shops ect the bin mans job is both driving and pulling bins

so depending on job you can be away from wagon a while with keys in and engine running

a new bin wagon doesnt cost far off ?100,000 so if you know someome who want the parts or know a way of getting it ringed up it could be a lucrative business

      OFF TOPIC:-

If you ever need to pinch an AA vechile, remember to grab his trousers, as they have a system fitted into the seat, no card in arse pocket, park brake off, nil poi - engine dies.

      OFF TOPIC:-

If you feel the urge to rob a secicor van, you have to be the same weight as that person. They get waied daily and only a small tollerance - also no filling up with pies if you work for them
