just looked on national statistics on line and was surprised to see that the area with the most household who have never worked is inner london at 6.5% way ahead of the second highest outer london at 2.2%.I was surprised by these figures as I have seen and read many storys over the years about idle people and they have nearly aways been in the north that must be biassed london based media. All goverments have been saying london is booming, no unemployment we must bring people in to london to do the work .
So its time this was sorted out as there is aways jobs in London

everyone is quick to jump on the immigration bandwagon but believe me when i say the vast majority of those that dont want to work are white british. ive had every excuse for not working to "i shit myself" to "i dont get on with people" and "ie been depressed for 20 yrs"

its amazing the number of virgin births as those claming benefit have no partner - oh really and i came up the clyde in a banana boat!!

Fully agree with you Lainie. The immmigrants do get their fare share of grief over stealing our jobs but as you say it's the indigienous population that allows them to get the jobs in the first place. If our scum was made to work in the first place there'd be no jobs for these people to come over here for.

I've lived in plenty of Countries and have my eyes opened wide by how hard some of these people from different countries work when the Government doesn't splash the cash on the workshy like ours does.

A good friend of mine is an Israeli guy married to an English woman. When he first moved to this Country he kept saying how crazy we were giving him the money and benefits. He had a better standard of living by not working than he had in his own Country by working. He still got off his arse and took a low paid job even though he was worse off. If only some of our own had the self respect and pride to realise that even doing a low paid job makes them 100 times better than those that are TOO good to work in Mc Donalds etc.

THAT IS AWESOME to hear. Without risking 'screwing up' yourself, what can the fraud section find, apart from, all your bank accounts, phone bills, inside leg etc etc?

In the 1970's before Thatchers days ( i think) the country started to go downhill when it made social housing available to everyone - previously it was only accessible to working class. Since then it has gone down hill.... We have so many houses which have 3 generations of the same family that have never worked - yet they seem to get by with the same old excuses.

The system needs a change, I am a socialist through and through but the social system that we provide is being taken advantage of by british people more than anyone. There are lots of immigrants who do lots of jobs that british people wont do.

I look forward to the changes that are coming, but they need to be strong but absolutely fair... Not sure if that can be acheived but we need to try out best and all pull our fingers out.

I read yesterday that people earning ?100,000 and over will no longer be entitled to council houses.

It was one of those major WTF!!!!! moments.

tbh icant see any change these ppl know all the tricks going ,my brother in law has scrounged for 30 years and will still get away with it

thats the problem,it costs so much to track down and sort out the cheats from those that really need help,,and what we will see is a total blanket crackdown where the people that really need help wont receive it and those that scrounge will continue to do so
maybe if we stopped getting involved in oil wars and spending vast amounts of money ruining other countrys the money could be spent better in this country,lets get our own affairs in order before we start meddling in other peoples,,

I used to work in McD's many years ago, ~~~~ing loved it. If my health would allow me to go back to it, I would, without a second thought.

Whatever happened to that call to make the unemployed work for their benefits? Nothing like a bit of hard work to get people motivated.

tax evasion 70 billion per year

the goverment should really be addressing the evasion rather than than the benefits
