Over 70 per cent of British drivers high on drugs: Study

A whopping 72 per cent of drivers in Britain admit being under the influence of narcotics while driving, according to a new study.

Around 35 percent admitted to taking a cannabis joint. Another 15 percent admitted they had taken cocaine. Drugs like ecstasy account for 22 per cent, said the survey by insurer Direct Line.

One in three Britons believe they were in a "fit state" to drive, but five percent admitted to being in an accident.

The Home Office is now testing a "drugalyser" device to detect narcotic use by drivers.

Diabolical I did not belive so many people drive while taking those drugs they should be put behind bar until educated.

Surveys like that people love to make answers up thinking it's cool to say i some pot when i drive. The only one i believe would be 70% of drivers are on some sort of prescription drug like Prozac or Perks and Oxycontin.

I was really expecting a twist towards the end where they list the over-the-counter drugs you cannot take while driving.

I've got co-codamol 30/500's for the pain in my feet. I'm supposed to take 2 four times a day, if I did that I'd forever be on a high.... until I became addicted to them.

I only ever take one while out & about, if the pain is bad enough to warrant it. Any more & I'd be putting myself & every other person on, or near, the roads in danger.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd list all the OTC drugs that have been added to the 'banned while driving' list.

In America 70% of Americans are on some type of prescription drug. So you can get an idea how many are driving high on something. between drinking drugs cell phones and texting i'm surprise not more people are killed by cars. No wonder flying is safer
