Virgin alerts infected customers

About 1,500 customers of internet service provider Virgin Media have been warned that their PCs are infected with a malicious virus.

The targeted computers had fallen victim to the SpyEye trojan that steals log-ins for online bank accounts.

Virgin was alerted to the infections by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

It is impossible, at this stage, to know how many other ISPs' customers are affected by SpyEye/

People feel safe with their antivirus and firewall these days so tend to be lax about what they keep on their pc's than they were several years ago so I think keep more info on their computers .
Nowadays it very easy to build a stealer/virus/trojan etc that is TOTALLY undetectable both run time and scan time .

so let me get this straight, you believe that when people go on dodgy sites and get infected with a virus, irrespective of the isp, its the isps fault yeah?
so, by your reckoning if you opened your door and someone punched you in the face... its the door makers fault??

i think i have this virus my computer is behaving weirdly it is slow and makes noises when nobody is using it when it should be quiet

auto updates are disabled and it wont let me put them back on malware bytes avast and super anti spyware have found nothing

but i dont believe them

I know nothing about TalkTalk's website blocker, but with such a large amount of P2P users I doubt a website blocker would have helped in this case.

I doubt TalkTalk could/would block the websites of such major companies.

Keep the internet free. Don't block any sites, let the user make up their own mind...... And keep us computer technicians busy fixing their PC's due to them being soooooo stupid.

If people took the time to learn & understand what they are using, & the precautions they should be taking. We wouldn't need ISP's & governments to try to limit our surfing in the name of 'safety'.
Then we just need to remove the power the music industry has over our governments
