Mother abroad - girl 'home alone'

A four-year-old girl was found "home alone" after her mother reportedly went on holiday, it has emerged.

Police found her after two 16-year-old boys, one of whom is believed to be her brother, were arrested on suspicion of driving offences in Crawley, West Sussex.

The mother is understood to have gone abroad over the weekend, leaving the little girl's brother in charge, according to local reports.

The girl's discovery was made after the two teenagers were stopped by police in the Maidenbower area in the early hours of Tuesday.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of taking a car without the owner's consent, Sussex Police said as inquiries continued to trace the mother.

Police said: "As a result of inquiries following the arrest of one of the boys, West Sussex Social Services have been informed by police that a four-year-old girl, known to one of the boys, was home alone at an address nearby.

"This matter is now being dealt with by West Sussex County Council."

A county council spokesman said that they had no comment to make because police inquiries were still continuing.



Good thing that this has happened while the little girl is still unharmed and alive.
Now she will get the care she needs and a safe future for her.

I wonder were is the child father remains a mystery?????????.

And for the mother please give her a long holiday in prison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't children under 5 go free on holidays anyway?

Well thats not the point, but what goes through peoples minds when they choose to just leave their kids for a holiday. I wouldnt even treat my pets like that. If you dont want kids dont have them, or put them for adoption. Or how hard would it have been to get a granparent or aunt or unlce to take care of them if they really were that desperate to get away :/

Its quite sad that stories like this are becoming more of an occurrance. Children arent for as and when it suits, why do some people find this hard to accept?

I'm surprised the 16 year old boy never had kids of his own at home. Pretty much sums up some parts of society.

It's gonna keep happening until the law take a tougher stance on this. Ppl like this don't deserve to have kids, when there are so many ppl out there who would love to have kids, but are unable to.
