Weird thing is that heterosexuals with HIV have never been banned from giving blood. Plus all the scussy prostitutes with HIV from Eastern European countries and the tricks they shag can all give blood. All the hetros that have gotten HIV from dirty needles or bad blood can give blood.

Just gays are banned because we all know that ALL gay men have HIV just like ALL straight men dont.

        None of that is true.

Here are some of the things they check before you can give blood.
If you answer yes to any of the following the chances are you will not be able to donate blood. Think you'll find there are a lot more people stopped from giving blood than just active gay men.

Don?t give blood if you THINK you need a test for HIV or Hepatitis or if you have had sex in the past year with someone you think may be HIV positive or Hepatitis positive. Although the chances of infected blood getting past our screening tests is very small, our tests do not always show if you are infected. This is why we must take care in choosing donors and why you must not give blood if you are infected. We rely on your help and co-operation. Please answer the following questions carefully.

A man who has ever had oral or anal sex with a man, with or without a condom

        Female donors only
In the last 12 months have you had sex with a man who has ever had oral or anal sex with another man, with or without a condom?

In the last 12 months have you had sex with anyone who has ever been given money or drugs for sex or anyone who has injected drugs?

Ever been given money or drugs for sex

Have you ever injected yourself or been injected with illegal or non-prescribed drugs including body-building drugs or cosmetics (even if this was only once or a long time ago)?

In the last 12 months have you had sex with anyone who is HIV positive or anyone with hepatitis B or hepatitis C?

In the last 12 months have you had sex with anyone who may ever have had sex in parts of the world where AIDS/HIV is very common (this includes most countries in Africa)?

If you have a cough, sore throat or active cold sore

If you are pregnant or had a baby within 6 months

If you are taking any prescribed drugs

A woman who has received a donated egg or embryo since 1980, or been treated for infertility with either human gonadotrophin of pituitary origin or Metrodin HP??

Ever had jaundice, hepatitis, hepatitis B or C, or think you may have it now

Had acupuncture, ears, face or body pierced, had a tattoo or any cosmetic treatment that involved piercing your skin in the last 12 months

Received a blood transfusion since 1st January 1980

Anyone in your family had CJD

Have you ever had a serious illness, seen a doctor about your heart or in the last 7 days have you taken any additional medicines or tablets including any you have bought yourself?

Have you been in contact with anyone with an infectious disease or in the last 8 weeks have you had any immunisations, vaccinations or jabs?

Have you ever had malaria or an unexplained fever associated with travel?

Have you visited any malarious area in the last 12 months

Have you been or plan to go to an area where West Nile Virus is endemic this summer? This includes Canada, the United States, mainland Greece, Romania and some areas in Italy.

I'm not allowed to give blood any more.

Had recurrent DVT's & now taking warfarin for the rest of my unnatural life.

Strangely it wasn't the drugs that stoped me donating. It was the fact that one of the clots developed in a very major artery.

Never did get a full explaination.

that doesn't sound too good Though I'm assuming you have given blood before? If you say you can't anymore?

Is it the same amount of blood that gets taken for tests?

From the age of 18 till 26 I gave blood twice a year.

They take about 3/4 of a pint in old money.

There were only two questions that were specific for women. The one marked & the other relating to pregnancy.

                    Most of us aren't homophobic.

I often find those that are, end up being gay... once they forgive themselves for having those type of feelings... they step loud & proud from the closet.

i gave blood a few times, but it always made me feel really tired for weeks afterwards as my weight is just around 8 st, they won't take it if you weight under 8 st.

anyway turns out i've got vit b12 and folic acid deficiency, so it's not good for me to donate, otherwise i would
