Teenager jailed for taking photo at Luton Crown Court

A teenager from Luton has been jailed for two months for taking a photograph of a courtroom from the public gallery during a hearing.

Paul Thompson, 19, had gone to Luton Crown Court to support a friend facing a custodial sentence for robbing an off-duty police officer.

"This is a serious offence and the message must go out that people cannot take photos."

"Also, and this was seen with the disproportionate sentencing following the riots, there is a degree to which it appears the justice system is not keeping pace with the change in technology."



I think UK is getting worse then the third world country???..

When phone hacking was going on for years and the court put the blind eye, a teenager taking photos of the court room and gets two months jail sentence diabolical rules if you ask me.

Anyone entering a court of law is made well aware that photography is forbidden.

Off coarse I have done some thing wrong I should not be shame if I get caught, you get your pictures waking to court so why the media are allowed to use on TV?

What about the women who stole a water bottle at the last riot who got six months prison sentence in UK I suggest you would agree.

Imagine if she got six months prison sentence in Europe for steeling a water bottle our prime minister would have intervened to get her out.

Totally deserved he what he done was taboo in a courtroom, Whats next making calls to friends when the judge is summing up or maybe even making a video of it all. You say two months but he will get out in 1 month. If the sentence was disproportionate he would have been locked up for 2 years.
