A FRAUDSTER who tried to rip off an insurance firm for more than half a million pounds by faking his death has been jailed for six years.
Anthony McErlean, 66, came unstuck when investigators found his fingerprints on the death certificate.
He submitted the fake claim for ?520,000, complete with the forged signature of his wife Sonia, to Glasgow?s Ace Insurance. The firm were told he?d been run over while changing a wheel in Honduras.
By bribing cops, McErlean was able to use a real death certificate and real witness statements to support the rip-off.
But the scam unravelled when he was stopped near Canterbury, Kent, on suspicion of drink-driving in March.

How he got hold of a real death certificate in UK remains a mystery.
Those are the people who should be sent to prison for 15 years and not 6 years.
Compare with that women who got 6 months for steeling a bottle of water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The justice system is ~~~~ed, diabolical not fit for purpose????should be scrapped.
