Metropolitan Police Skanking @ Notting Hill Carnival 2011 (LMAO) - YouTube
A policeman has become an online star after he was filmed 'skanking' at this year's Notting Hill Carnival.
The footage shows the unknown officer getting drawn into the festivities as he joins carnival goers for a dance.
Doing his bit for community relations, the policeman impressed the crowd with his cameo, reports the Daily Telegraph.
He drew the appreciation of the soundsystem's MC, who can be heard to shout: "Big up the police inside the place."
The clip was posted by a YouTube user called TurtusMaximus who said: "I think this is what the police needed with all the tension among officers and youths in recent weeks.
"I'm very glad I was there to film it, and even more glad people have a largely positive attitude towards it!"
Another viewer commented: "This officer must be applauded for his efforts here. He's done more for public relations by showing his 'human' side than 1,000 officers with guns and batons could ever do. Bravo!"
Whilst the identity of the policeman remains a mystery, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the footage was genuine.
"We have no doubt that it is one of our officers," a spokesman said.
