Girl of 3 survives 100 mph train strike.......

MIRACLE tot Scarlett Shaw is finally able to smile again as she recovers after being hit by a 100mph express train.

Amazingly, three-year-old Scarlett survived the impact that killed her dad Richard, 28, who had walked in front of the high-speed train.

Now Scarlett is on the mend after specialist treatment but will still need a series of operations due to her multiple injuries.

She has already started to walk unaided using a frame.

An inquest has still to be concluded after the tragedy in July close to Adwick-le-Street station near Doncaster.

Mum Samantha Roberts, from Doncaster, agreed to release photos of Scarlett as she hailed medical staff at Sheffield Childrens Hospital.

Samantha was determined to pay tribute to The Sick Childrens Trust, who provided her with somewhere to stay near her daughters hospital bedside.

She said After 13 hours of surgery Scarlett was moved to the intensive care unit to recover from the trauma.

I felt completely overwhelmed, exhausted and terrified about the fragile state of my daughter. I also had to worry about where I was going to stay.

Fortunately, nurses at the hospital told me about Treetop House, which has free accommodation nearby provided by the Trust.

It was such a comfort to Scarlett to know that I was never far away from her bedside.

    high-speed train.

Makes you wounder if the train driver had had the speedometer "corrected" - and somehow managed to make the speedo read wrong when the needles were forced back on.

    Wounder who the driver was?

The problem was "unaided" and "using a frame" in the same sentence.

Doesn't make sense, but it's typical of the sloppy journalism that's common these days.
He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.
