A man is to appear in court today charged with kidnap and sexual assault after a 10-year-old boy vanished on a trip to local shops.
Michael Jackson (Give a dog a bad name....), 49, from Oldbury, West Midlands is accused of the kidnap and sexual assault of the child in Oldbury on Sunday.
He has also been charged with one further count of child abduction in connection with a separate incident involving an 11-year-old child.
Police launched an investigation after the 10-year-old was reported missing by a worried family member at 9.15am when he failed to return home.
Officers and members of the public searched the area for more than two hours before a neighbour spotted the boy inside a property at around 11.30am.
He was uninjured and returned to his family shortly afterwards.
Emma Garnett, senior crown prosecutor from West Midlands Crown
Prosecution Service, said: 'Having carefully examined all of the available information which was submitted to me by the police, I have decided that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest to charge Michael Jackson with one count each of kidnap, false imprisonment, threats to kill and sexual assault.
'I have also authorised the police to charge him with one further count of child abduction which is in connection with a separate incident involving an 11-year-old child.'
He will appear before Warley Magistrates' Court today.
West Midlands police said that a 48-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation had been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
A 30-year-old man had been released without charge.
Police said the further charge of child abduction related to a separate incident on September 14 in which an 11-year-old child from Oldbury was allegedly abducted.
'They were unharmed and came forward to police after the events of Sunday,' the force said in a statement.
