I've applied for 300 jobs and not had one reply - stories of unemployed youth

AN unemployed teenager last night told of her desolation after applying for more than 300 jobs but failing to get even one reply.

Leanne Shipley, 18, has spent the past 10 months trying to find work after council funding was abruptly pulled from her beauty training course.

From Bridlington, East Yorks, she even moved 70 miles away to Leeds to look for employment but was still left bitterly disappointed.

She said: ?I feel like I?m banging my head against a brick wall. Every week I send away at least 10 applications. I?ve written to cafes, supermarkets, care homes, salons and loads of shops.

?Nobody has ever replied to me. It?s made me feel like I?m not good enough.?

Leanne, who has now moved back home to live with her salesman dad in Bridlington, had last year been excited about her future.

She was studying at social enterprise centre Bellezza Academy, which offers hands-on learning for women and has won awards for its work helping disadvantaged young people.

Leanne passed her NVQ Level 1 in beauty ? making her qualified for pedicures and manicures.
And she was heading for top marks on Level 2 when the course was shelved without warning.

She recalls: ?I cried when we were told we had to leave. There were four of us there and we were all really gutted. I loved it there. We all did and none of us wanted to leave. College is not for everyone and this way you were learning as you worked.

?If it wasn?t for the academy I would have no qualifications at all. They gave me confidence. I feel as if stopping the funding destroyed my chances, my future. I?ve had no work since then.?

It's a factual error, not a punctuation error. Nothing to do with use of language.

            "EVERY time"????

You might find it was the Girls fault for leaving school with shite qualifications. You can't expect a Government minister to sit behind everyone in school to make them learn. Sometimes people have to take responsibility for their own position in life. It's not just the thick either. Look at some of the Micky Mouse degrees you can get. Some people waste years getting a degree in a subject that they already know there's no jobs for but it doesn't stop them.

Ive applied for job after job, every week i apply and plough through job sites..

One application i sent took me a week to complete.. and on the way home from work today i thought ive not heared nothing in 3 months.. so i think ill ring them monday when i'm off work.. I thought if they give some lame excuse i was going to be abusive on the phone.. wasting my time..

But i got home went to bed, woke up and low and behold a reply saying i was unsuccessful..

So after getting that email, ive decided im not applying for anymore jobs, instead im going to become self employed.. then i will have the last laugh and again put everything through as expenses to the tax man like the good old days.

                              Lets make some corrections....

She's applied for 10 jobs (being generous) that the dole office have told her to apply for.

What she really means is that she hasn't found a lad daft enough to impregnate her so that she can live a life free of the burden of clocking in and earning the money to pay for the happy meals she munches on
