eBay to open its first UK shop

eBay, the online shop, is to open its first UK shop, in the latest sign that internet retailers are moving onto the high street.
The eBay shop will only be a five-day experiment, but follows similar schemes run by Amazon, House of Fraser and even Marks & Spencer (Dusseldorf: MA6.DU - news) to encourage their internet shoppers to visit real shops.
The shop on Dean Street, just off Oxford Street, will open during the busiest period for online shopping: December 1 to December 5

I rather be shopping in the pound shop then ebay??.

If you look across ebay you will realise that most of the goods on ebay are from Chinese factory.

I have noticed nothing from UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a few refunds and replacement items from Chinese sellers.

There are good and bad sellers in all countries. I've been ripped off by people not sending stuff in the UK more times than I've had problems with Chinese sellers.

I ordered a case for my kindle and one for the mrs on Sunday. The one I ordered for mine was from a Chinese seller because he seems to be the only one in the world selling this particular case. I ordered one for the mrs from a UK seller with UK stock. I got mine on Thursday, I'm still waiting for the one from the UK.

The problem with ebay is the new stuff, 85% of it is from dropshippers so you have to pay their markup, but anyone can buy things direct from where they get their stuff from, just at lower prices, and all the dropship wholeslers sell single items and take paypal.

I only buy from ebay if I am desperate and a quick google will find what i'm looking for at a similar price from amazon, play, ebuyer or 7day shop. I'd rather pay a couple of quid extra to buy from a good reputable site than ebay.

Ebay is good for second hand crap but not so much now for other stuff.

Look around your house and nearly everything is made in China, Taiwan or Japan regardless of brand or where it's bought. It's doesn't make it any better or worse than anything else. What do you think we make here in the UK. Not a lot. And even some stuff that is sold as made in britain is actually only assembled here from Chinese parts.
