Mountain out of a mole hill...ffs he made a joke before it about roads being empty, then said he had to be balanced and made another joke.

Jezza says things all the time that are controversial but it is just his humour that NOT everyone gets.

I thought it was funny and I also admirred the strikers for trying to hold on to their rights and taking it in the pocket to at least try to fight.

I agree it was obvious to anyone with the slightest sense of humour that he was taking the piss, especialy as he highlighted after pointing out the good bits that as it's the BBC he has to balance out his opinions.

Before anyone without a sense of humour jumps on the band wagon I do believe some public sector workers are being shafted and do need support to protect their pensions.

He's a gobshite. Cameron is his mate and there's no mistaking his views on it.

            THE TRUTH
            The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

It was a joke and you could tell what he said before it,and his tone of voice, that it wasn't intended to be taken seriously.
If Peter Kay, Lee Evans, Jimmy Carr etc. had said the same thing then there wouldn't have been half the uproar there has been over this.
It's ~~~~ing ridiculous and people need to grow up.

Personally I'd sack every fcking person who went on strike yesterday.
I know they can't but there are millions in this country who are crying out for a job and yet these greedy scrotes are moaning about a pension that most people would give their right arm for, even after the reduction.

Yeah let's all get ~~~~in steamrolled by the government and take it lying down. It's people like you that make Britain what it is today.Spineless and ~~~~ed.

                  Oh boo fcking hoo!

So they have to work an extra 2/3yrs to get a pension that most of the private sector wouldn't get near.

                  My heart bleeds for them!

I'll have paid into a pension all my life and will probably still be working at 67.
                  Is that fair?
Love the "We're doing it for the younger generation as well" line...fck off.

                  It's pure and simple GREED.

And try to make a point without personal insults. It may be a mod privilege but it doesn't make it right.

I think benefits need to be drastically cut to cover the pensions for the people who have worked for them. Also if benefits are cut it might encourage a few more people to work.

                    Clarkson was joking.

It's not about benefits though. It's about the older generation of public sector workers who refuse to move with the times.
With the current economic mess the pensions are not viable.
If you bought a house when you was 21 for ?500,000 would you expect it be worth ?500,000 when you are 65?
It may be worth more or less, that is the point. You can't have a fixed rate on anything.
But these people are demanding they get what they signed up for and fck everyone else.

imagine I had the option of a choice of two jobs,
one in the private sector with slightly better annual pay,
or one in the public sector with lower pay but better pension provisions,
I opt for the public sector because of the better pension, then a few years down the line, my employer says sod the fact I signed a legal binding contract, there going to screw me over anyhow,
don't you think I'd be a bit pizzed off,

when the pensionable age was introduced, the average life expectancy was 66.5, you had 1.5 years to enjoy your pension, and that is where were heading to again,
the fact that you pay in to a crap pension doesn't mean everyone should get the same, just as the public employee shouldn't get paid the same as a private sector worker.

if anyone is feeling sorry for themselves I say it's you.

Well, just typical clarkson joke for me.

Can't say I've been much interested in the public sector duvet day but I've had a few thoughts on it...

The thing I don't understand about public sector pensions is whether or not it is mandatory for workers to pay into them. If they're not happy could they either not pay into them or use one of those online compare sites and get a better private pension..?

Also is terrible that it is only the public sector workers that are being asked to work two years longer... Absolute disgrace!

Again... striking is not good. If public workers not happy with employment conditions... could they not go to jobcentre and get another better job with a super pension in the highly paid private sector that I hear many public workers speaking about?

They are not going to fire Clarkson on a show as popular as Top Gear is. It wouldn't matter if he meant what he said or not. The show makes alot of money and Clarkson is the whole show so who give a sh*t what he said. I don't no how much your public workers pay into their pensions but here in New York they pay nothing for anything and rip the pension system. Just to give you an example if a worker makes $60,000 a year his retirement pay should be half around $30,000 but it is based on the last three years salary so they pad as much overtime in those years to make their salary double what they were making. One worker was putting 15 hrs of overtime a day. So what ever Clarkson said makes sense to me. Public workers think what they get is a given right and don't care if they are taxing the people to death. So line them up and pull the trigger.

There is no such think as a legal binding contract in this case so you are talking out of your arse.

PRIVATE pensions fluctuate, interest rates fluctuate, mortgage rates fluctuate depending on outside and economic forces, but you people want a fixed rate on something you may have signed 25yrs ago.
                              Tough shit,deal with it.
