There's no such thing as TRULY unlimited. Abuse any system enough and you'll get kicked off !

Sky is no different to anybody else in this regard. If your usage impacts other customers then you'll get a 'cease & desist' letter. Continue with the behaviour and they will terminate your service.

Put another way, EVERY provider has a LIMITED amount of bandwidth to share between its customers. Its physically impossible to turn something that has limits into something thats unlimited !

What Sky (and others) normally tend to do is slow the service by stealth as it becomes busy. Its just like speed limits coming into play on a congested motorway. The only thing about sky's limits is they tend to be dynamic rather than at absolute times. They will be applied dynamically during periods of congestion rather than during particular time-periods.

Out of interest though, the statistics would seem to indicate the majority of people can download far more on VM than on any ADSL based system in any 24 hour period, regardless of 'limits'.

That's because the VM limits are extremely easy to get around if you know how to do it.

ADSL (Anal Digital Subscriber Line) is pants and always has been.

I suspect the majority of people that are included in these statistics really wouldn't even realise there are limits. The vast majority simply wouldn't notice a 75% speed drop as even the lower speed is more than adequate to their needs.

Wont disagree with that particular observation. Unfortunately, if you want fast reliable domestic internet in the UK then its pretty much a VM monopoly if your outside a city centre. That may change in 5-10 years if were lucky, but until then its VM all the way !

Out of interest, when I signed up with VM in 2001, I got 512k download and 128k upload. Now I get 50Meg download and 5Meg upload for the same price. All that movement has been 'free' upgrades. How far has ADSL moved in the same period ?
