    Nice budget

Nice budget if you aren't an individual that drives a car, smokes or needs money to live.

Corporation tax to fall from 26% to 24% in April 2012, down to 22% in 2014
New 7% stamp duty rate for properties worth more than ?2m and a 15% rate for ?2m homes bought through companies
Child benefit cuts to be phased in for families with at least one parent earning ?50,000, and axed for those on ?60,000
UK growth forecast raised slightly to 0.8% and borrowing to be ?1bn less than previously forecast
Tobacco duties to rise by 5% above inflation from 1800 GMT - equivalent to 37p on the price of a packet of cigarettes.
Fuel duty rise of 3p a litre to go ahead as planned
State pension age to be automatically reviewed, to ensure it keeps pace with life expectancy.
Rate cut from 50p to 45p for high earners

    Pile of crap really.

BBC News - Budget 2012: George Osborne cuts 50p top tax rate

I was pleased to hear that the personal tax allowance is set to increase. I don't know how many years it will take to reach ?10,000. (The Falkland Islands with comparable salaries to the UK presently has a personal tax allowance of ?12,000, but there again maybe that's feasable since they don't have a defence budget )

As for tobacco, should have been 100% above inflation... you know it's not good for you

OK... you're right it is a pile o' crap

You'll have to wait a year for the raise in personal allowance though, in the meantime inflation, the rises in fuel costs and transportation, with a knock on affect to increases to food prices and the like, will eat that away quite quickly. So yeah it's sh*t

I can't get my head around the fact that we can't just have one rate of tax for everyone with no allowances for anything overseas.

It already pisses me off that I have to pay a higher rate of tax due to the fact that I got off my arse and bettered myself.

                        Shite budget

There is lots of cash around for the lazy.
Two guys in the next street to me are both registered disabled and get up my nose. One is a registered alcoholic and his pal is a registered drug addict. They both get a disability allowance, free bus & train pass, housing allowance, council tax allowance, in addition to other benefits (beer money) & methadone etc. They both also get a carers allowance (for caring for each other) and have now applied for a motability car. I''m a pensioner and am expected to live on less than half what they get ~ some budget Mr Osborne. I cant' wait for the next election

People will be bribed with tax cuts before the next election, so will instantly forget what a bunch of tossers the tories and lib dems are.
