    Petrol prices break 140p barrier

The average cost of a litre of unleaded petrol in the UK has broken through the 140p mark for the first time, causing more misery for motorists already disappointed by the chancellor's decision not to cancel a fuel duty increase set for August.

Figures from the AA show drivers are now paying an average of 140.20p a litre ? almost 8p a litre more than at the start of the year. The price of diesel has also hit a new record of 146.72p.

The AA said that the owner of a car consuming, on average, 106.17 litres of petrol a month would now be spending ?8.44 a month more than at the start of the year.

You'll keep on paying and it will keep on rising, always the same.

I have worked out that i pay an average of ?1,400 per annual compared to ?960.00 five years ago.

When i look at it like that and the rate of inflation i dont know if it's a good thing or bad thing ?

More war rattling going on, we will be talking about the rise of petrol over ?2.00 a litre.

The question is why the prises are going up???????????

84p for autogas is a rip off, I'm paying less than 70p per litre at the moment.

Yeah for some odd reason we accept tax and price hikes in the UK, part of normal everyday life to be ripped off so it seems. I do recall that the fuel protests took place when the price was a lot less than it is now, and yet we just continue to pay like the sheep that we are *shrug*

A rise in the duty was the last thing we needed.
