Watching the news on bbc earlier on the new Titanic building due to open tomorrow in Belfast, it appears that since the sinking of the ship 100 years ago, history is repeating itself in the most ironic fashion!
It appears the main attraction of the museum (the replica main stairway of the ship) is ONLY available to the Business Class (rich) to wine and dine around.
The public who they will be depending on to buy tickets to recompense the building costs, will NOT be allowed to see the stairs in any shape or form! Regardless of the high price of admission they have to pay to get in!
It sounds to me like the old days of 1912, when the first class got to walk down the stairway while the steerage were kept away without a glimpse of the thing!

"For corporate visitors, the spectacular banqueting suite on the fifth and sixth floors will provide elegant surroundings in a spectacular design based on the Titanics interiors. The banqueting rooms, the largest of which will have a capacity for 750 diners, will offer a unique and luxurious setting with first class facilities for any function at the very top of the house."

What a shame the people involved in this property have decided to deprive those the will rely on most of seeing one of the most iconic items of the exhibition!

You must have picked up wrong, that part of the exhibition is probably booked out for years due to weddings and what not. i plan to take my gran kids to see it and the grand stair case. wedding photo's and other types of photo oportunities arev available. hope to take advantage of that as well.I think you may have been talkin about last saturday night when different events where held. but tickets for the main hall where snapped up pretty quickly or i would have been there.


The building is visible from my house and pretty impressive it is to.

The building is very impressive and must have cost a fortune so they are entitled to recoup the money by landing revenue from this area.

They are entitled to do whatever the wish John, but that doesn't make it right. Besides they have now changed the policy somewhat (recognizing they got it wrong) and it will be open to the paying public on certain days. The problem with that is, they have yet to tell the paying public what days they will be, add to that the ride in a trolley car around part of the exhibition has failed to work since opening, it seems that they haven't learned a lesson from the disaster of the past!

They do a similar thing on the royal yacht britania. They let you rent out the state dining room for weddings etc, but at least you can walk through it when its not used.

Another part of the titanic legacy is a ship called the nomadic it was bought for about ?350.000 it was an ugly rusting hulk . it was built at harland & wolf purely to ferry passengers to the big ship. until recently it was used for al sorts of jobs before being scraped. Apparently its starting to take shape. it will have a resturant and function room and more as well as being a museum. I may not b 100% right but they got big plans for it. and the dry dock.
