Australian billionaire Clive Palmer to build Titanic II

Clive Palmer, one of Australia's richest men, has commissioned a Chinese state-owned company to build a 21st Century version of the Titanic.

The mining billionaire told Australian media that construction would start at the end of next year.

It would be ready to set sail in 2016.

The plan, he added, was for the vessel to be as similar as possible to the original Titanic in design and specifications, but with modern technology.

Mr Palmer told Australian media that he had signed a memorandum of understanding with CSC Jinling Shipyard to construct the ship.

The word Titanic is curse to the ship and for that reason I am out..... if that was the only way to travel I will be the last one to go on board.

Good idea, get all those Titanic nostalgia arseholes together who've been flooding the TV channels for the past year and then sail full steam ahead into the nearest iceberg.

The chinese will of course have no problem in producing a ship with the Titanic's design features: inadequate provision of lifeboats, security gates to assist the poorer passengers in drowning indoors without upsetting the ponces and those famous cabriolet style watertight compartments!

That's intreasting, once upon a time cars like pre 1990 ish only had 5 figures on the speedo, most modern cars are 6 figure.

Every other car you get in has over 100,000 miles on the clock.

So on that score how many digdits will the speedo have on this thing?

Will it run on coal or diesel, or powered by the sun, or even nuclear or salt water powered?
