Pay up to prove your innocence

BBC News - Internet piracy appeal fee challenged by Consumer Focus

This has to be some kind of joke right? As someone commented in the story, innocent before proven guilty is common law and surely supersedes any other law.

    Or am I missing something.....

If this is true, it seriously rings the death bell for the little man against the major corporations

So the copy rights don't actually have to provide proven evidence, and you are expected to be charged ?20 if you want to appeal against the decision.

In short the world is broke and they have to find money from some were, not a very bad idea?..

My ISP have been disconnecting people for years and demanding they write an apology and promise not to do it again. This is for downloading with no proof other that a letter from a company saying one of my ISP's customers had been logged as downloading. Failure to apologise meant no internet whatsoever. OFCOM thought there was no problem with that and let it continue.
