A Scottish council is to spray-paint dog mess bright pink in a bid to shock irresponsible owners into changing their bad habits.
The move by West Dunbartonshire Council is part of a wider campaign to crack down on dog fouling.
Officers will patrol designated dog mess black-spots and use a spray-gun to blast any offending discoveries.

However they won't dispose of it, even though they can spend the time sending someone round to paint it pink. While I agree that pet owners, including cat owners, should pick up their own mess - I do think the council is being just a tad stupid in thinking that paying it pink and leaving it there will be enough to make owners pick it up.
I wonder what the reaction will be when the first child sees something nice and pink laid in the grass and picks it up, will the council be sued for it's own stupidity in leaving such a health hazard laying around knowing it's a health hazard? Only time will tell.
