    to be honest i quite liked it when shops actually shut on a sunday, and over the xmas and stuff - am sure people could manage with shops closed for 1 day a week

    just my opinion - don't shoot me

      The members of a trade union are what make a trade union.striking is always a last resort and even then the officials don't decide, they have to by law ballot their members and abide by the result of the ballot. Just thought i'd clear that up

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

      Today's report is black and white.The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
      The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

        *shite post alert*

        of course they should be allowed to open 24/7, a lot of peeps work weird shifts now days so its good for them to be able to do their shopping when they want, i asked a worker in tescos what it was like in the middle of the night customer wise, she said "we get a few in but not many" so they not making money really opening at night, and this is a big tescos only a few miles from notts toon centre, so they not really doing it fur big profits, as said they have peeps filling shelves cleaning etc so why not open, opening at night is not affecting "abduls" corner shops at all imo, opening all night =s more jobs so got to be good, remember what it was like when basically all we had was corner shops ? and mostly little co-ops every where, getting ripped of right left and centre then. tescos also pay over time rates unlike ya corner shops, and being open 24/7 ya can get beer when ya want

          just because the shops are open does not mean you have to go to them so just pretend to yourself they are shut

            as for rights unless you are a illegal immigrant..asylum seeker...job shy poncing get....someone pretending to be ill your rights where sold down the river to europe years ago.

            i dont believe that any body should be coerced after a weeks work to have to work at weekends!!!!
            i do believe that shops and its worker should have the option to open if they wish to

            as for being treated like a slave get a grip on reality and realise how good we still have it in this country (even though europe are trying to ~~~~ it up )

            p.s. i actually believe the idea of trade unions are good and have been a member of one for over 25 years...that aside most are just left wing nutters with out a grip on reality !!!

            have a nice day
            I believe any business should be allowed to open 24/7 if it wishes to do so, however I believe that those who are asked to work those unsocial hours should be rewarded for working those hours.............the arguement then becomes "Yes, but the prices will rise".
            Of course the will but if you want an extra service then you must expect to pay for it.
            As for our rights being sold down the river to Europe, well I personally believe our rights were taken off us by a certain Mrs Thatcher (By the way, No I do not think the Thatcher Death Party Packs are right) she made sure the working class knew where their place was and made sure we would stay there.
            I do have a grip on reality and I know we do NOT have it that good in this country anymore !
            If you have money then you will make money, if you are poor you will only get poorer.
            Yes, I know there are people abusing the benefit system but there are also many more being abused by the benefit system and that needs to be addressed.
            The point of Union Officials on the ridiculously high incomes, agreed. Unfortunately this is just mirroring the model of most businesses these days.
            Politics and Unionism used to be a calling and a belief in representing your peers. Now they are considered careers and so we now have people in those positions for their own benefit and not for the benefit of those they are supposed to represent.

              your point 1 ....i agree most happily

              point 2...maggie thatcher was at best herself lower middle class who married a bloke with money after she was already on the political path within the conservative party.
              she made sure the "working class"" as you put it knew their place as you had at that time large unions holding the country to ransom at every corner and bringing the country to its knee's.
              she took this country from the brink of bankruptcy to being an international monetary force in less than 5 years in control just so that 11 years later tony (i'm a **** blair) and his cronies could ~~~~ it all up again over the next 10 years to bring us again to the brink of bankruptcy

              ~~~~ it i'm ranting off thread now !!
              point 3 i come from a working class family ( my mum was a market trader)
              but i would never vote labour
              point 4 benefit ponces(not including the genuine people)i agree it is to easy to play the system...so happily agree again
              not quite so sure about people being abused by the benefit system but will agree there is probably a few somewhere.
              point 5 sort of agree enough
              apart from that open shops 24/7 if they want to but make sure staff are not forced to work weekends as well as through the week (get some of the dole ponces to work weekends and if they wont stop their dole and let em starve)and of course if they are working recompense them accordingly with ???
              have a nice day
                Cantona7, thank you for your balanced reply.
                The point of Maggie Thatcher we will have to agree to disagree although I concur with your views on Tony Blair.
                The point I make about the benefit system abusing some claimants I make because I feel I am one of them. Having worked and paid into the system for almost 40 years and now being unemployed on health grounds (I won't go into all the details) I have been made to feel like a scrounger and liar and had to argue and fight for every penny I have received and have been waiting to go to Tribunal for over 8 months, during which time I have been on reduced benefits and still having to support my family. Believe me it has been very difficult, particularly when you see the obvious benefit scroungers outside the benefits office.
                  for your personel case the system sounds well and truly ~~~~ed up
                  try flying to somalia ..flying back and claiming benefit and you will probably be paid out on the same day...half said light heartedly but sadly probably true
                  hope your case is dealt with promptly and more importantly i hope your health improves/does not deteriorate more
