    UK Hacker- Gary McKinnon extradition

I hope this guy does NOT get extradited.

Home Secretary Theresa May is due to announce today whether computer hacker Gary McKinnon will be extradited to the US.

Mr McKinnon, who admits accessing US government computers but claims he was looking for evidence of UFOs, has been fighting extradition since 2002.

The 46-year-old, who has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, could face 60 years in jail if convicted in the US.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Mrs May will also announce changes to Britain's extradition arrangements with the US.

Mr McKinnon's case has been highlighted by critics who say it is too easy for the US to demand the handover of UK citizens.

David Cameron raised the issue with President Barack Obama during a meeting at the White House in March and said he would like to see a review.

    Court decision
The Daily Mail reports the home secretary is planning to introduce a measure that would make it more likely UK citizens would be tried in the UK - if that is where their alleged crimes took place.

The newspaper says the introduction of the so-called forum bar means a court hearing would have to be held to decide where a person should stand trial.

Car manufacturers hired prolific car thieves back in the late 80's to help improve security.

Brilliant news for Gary and his family..
A agree with the comments about hiring the guy but the Yanks don't like it when you show them up.
A can't see the Yanks being too chuffed but its about time we drew the line and stopped rolling over every time they throw their toys out the pram..

They sure are johnboy, a was watching late night news last night and they are still wanting their pound of flesh.
Am not sure who the guy was but he sounded like one of their right wing nutters, a member of the Bill Oreilly fan club and utter p**** tbh.

He was saying that America is angry because Theresa May slammed the door shut leaving no grounds for appeal, he went on to say that it wasn't over as they will be contacting Interpol and if McKinnon steps foot out of the UK then they would have him arrested..
Talk about arrogant, what makes this banger think Interpol would give a damn and am pretty sure to make them give a damn it would require wading through a sea of red tape.
Maybe they should be concerned about how a guy with a clapped out desktop and dial up modem walked right past their security and gained access to sensitive information, McKinnon states that he wasn't the only one.
A think the Yanks are covering their red necks for being caught with their co** in the dog..

They would blame Gary on all their own c*ck ups and even invent scenarios that would suit their needs and then hold Gary untill such time when Bradley Manning should or will abruptly be in the media and use Garys situation to cover it over with a "nasty alien Brit Hacker"

"String em up" the left brainers would be shouting by that time.

His plight isnt over by no means, but havent the yanks extradited enough UK citizens to last them a fw years of controversy?

My last recall was the UK guy who was blamed, and extradited for allegedly selling Iranian parts for Nukes or something..

Anyhoo, good luck to Gary and his family. This reprieve should be taken with a lot caution. I dont know why the Yanks are fussing sure they dont acknowledge UFOs even exist and such people are quackpots for seeing them.

                      Thanks for the youtube link.

A think the point is Shady is that he should never have been able to get that far in the first place.

Imagine if some terrorist nutters had beat McKinnon to it, we are talking about the most basic of security here, a think he done us a favour by exposing how bad their security was..

well yes he shouldnt have got that far, but just because a back door is accesable by a hacker, doesnt mean any tom dick or harry can type 'joshua' into a game of tic tac toe and make the war computer think russia is attacking
