BBC tells TV Licensing to lay off bully tactics

BBC tells TV Licensing to lay off bully tactics

The BBC Trust has spoken out about the amount of complaints concerning the agency in charge of collecting the licence fee.

TV Licensing stands accused of hounding households that do not even have a television.

This follows a much publicised campaign that has offended many people as it assumed that everyone is guilty of not having a TV Licence.

The BBC Trust has expressed concerns over the methods used by the agency, which is contracted by the BBC to collect and administer the TV Licence fee.

The agency has a data base of thirty million UK homes and when matched against the licence holders this will show up the households without a TV Licence.

These households are being sent letters and in some cases will get home visits from officers despite not owning a television.
