    Lottery winner loses unclaimed ?64m

A mystery lottery player has lost out on a ?64 million fortune after the deadline for them to claim the life-changing prize expired.

The unlucky individual, who bought the winning EuroMillions ticket in Hertfordshire, had until 11pm on Wednesday to collect the massive windfall.

But despite a National Lottery publicity campaign, the would-be multi-millionaire missed the 180-day deadline - making the ?63,837,543.60 prize the biggest unclaimed lottery win in history.

The bumper haul of money, plus all the interest it has generated, will now go to the National Lottery Good Causes - adding to the ?29 billion already raised through sales of lottery tickets since the National Lottery launched in November 1994.

They know the shop and the time the ticket was purchased.
It is very rare for a shop that sells the lottery not to have security cameras.
If they really wanted to pay out the unclaimed monies over the years then a simple syncronisation with the shops security footage and the time ticket was purchased is the most simple and obvious way to do this.

Lottery is paid to the person who bought it, if he or she bottled out or passed away there are organisation were the money will be divided for good causes.

There was no winning ticket printed.

Camelot machines have been targeted in the past for processing numbers that were never paid for or printed.
There's a fault in the software that the machines use. As far as I'm aware camelot have no intention of resolving the ghost ticket issue the faults cause.

if there was no ticket printed then the whole system is corrupt
camelot states the ticket was purchased at said shop at said time several days or hours before main draw.

then at main draw self same numbers come out,so the whole set up is rigged, now i am not averse to believing this may be the case but if so camelot are risking a lot to just end up handing it to good causes

It's not rigged. Their problem lies with the software used in the ticket machines.
Every so often a machine will process a ticket sale, with date & time, as if it was requested by the operator in the shop. When, if fact, no such request was made or paid for. So the shop owner pays for a ticket that was never sold.

When this came to light about 3 years ago (may be longer), it was dissmissed by camelot as being to costly to find & correct the error. That and the chances of a ghost ticket winning was so small it wouldn't impact anyone playing.

To date, if this was a ghost ticket, there have been two ghost ticket winners of the jackpot.

They should make the winnings into a real prize and televise some sort of show like krypton factor (only way harder) where people have to contend to win it and let the winnings be real winnings.

Thieving basterds keep it as usual.
