    Increased energy bills, most welcome

Well most welcome if you are a shareholder of a power company or anything connected with it.

The energy regulator will permit firms running the UK's electricity and gas grids to add an average ?12 to annual energy bills for the next eight years to pay for upgrades and maintenance.

Ofgem said it had cut ?7bn from the total cost of work on UK transmission networks planned by energy firms.

The biggest of these firms by far - National Grid - said it was reviewing the "lengthy and wide ranging" plans.

Meanwhile a lobby group warned 300,000 more homes faced imminent fuel poverty.

Energy prices have risen 7% on average this year, according to the Fuel Poverty Advisory Group, and are set to leave more households paying more than 10% of their income on home heating unless the government takes action.

    Tax change
Ofgem's announcement will enable ?24bn in total investment in the energy networks up until 2021.

However, an Ofgem spokesperson told the BBC that over half of the ?12 bill increase was not due to physical investment in the network, but was instead because of a change in accounting rules which would mean that energy firms could no longer claim back tax on the cost of replacing parts of the network.

The regulator's announcement represents a slight increase on the ?22bn investment allowance that Ofgem initially proposed in July - adding an average ?11 to bills - which was attacked by National Grid for being insufficient.

BBC News - Ofgem permits ?12 energy bills rise for grid upgrade

it's so we can pay their tax bill - not content with making Pre-tax profits of ?1.1 billion, with an operating profit of ?1.59 billion, up by 7% they'd like their tax bill paying as well.

I'm in the wrong game. Together with other measures that will have more than wiped out the governments claim to be helping save ?100 on the average users fuel bills per year. Give with one hand, take twice as much back with the other.

Quite clearly as more and more people move to solar panels, the power companies are not making as much money to pay their shareholders.

Dont believe the cost of wholesale propaganda they spout, it has been proven that wholesale cost has gone down more than it has gone up. To make up the shortfall in profits from solar panels, those who do not have them installed are paying more to keep the profits growing

By the time solar panels pay for the true cost of installation they will need replacing in our climate.

well that's the new area these panels are working in
IR panels give power at all times of the day.

they are currently very expensive (the receptor length is so short its hard, ATM to make them)

but soon enough our "roof Panels" will work 24-7x365(or 364 and a bit)

tbh mate the ones now barely work during the day

i was a surveyor and installer last year and we got many a call back to peoples house to check the installation was ok as they were not producing barely any energy

2kwh in a month was not uncommon yes it was winter month's and installations were going mad due to feed in tarrif cuts i have even known some bills actually rise due to them not making enough energy to power them

they are capable of doing a job but in my opinion and from experience in the trade their was only the fit scheme that made it mildly feasible

if you are down south and plumb south you may get an ok return with fit money as long as no shading issues from trees or cables which can make a huge difference

not in the game now after the fits started reducing nobodys that keen anymore and i have not heard of the new ones that work in the dark but i will have a hunch they will not be up to much and it wont help people who buy now even if they are the business

you need an inverter to convert it to a/c

best way to get cheaper electric is to take off cover and join these 2 wires, your meter still works but the meter is bypassed

                  Much better than solar

                    1) I know about the inverter bit, just was asking to how
to connect to the house meter tails?

                    2) *THINK* that's the meter that says 'tamper' if you link it out
(i have two of them meters, one with zero miles one with delivery milage only)

                    3) guy here in M/C linked his meter out with a bit of 2.5 MM set fire to the house, fire department came, pissed on it, but called the elcritc board
                    out.

House was unsafe to enter, nut at 2am saturday night no thick

go to substation, pull power for ENTIRE 350 housing estate

The fire and fuzz heard the phone call from mission control, kill the lot
he got back 2 mins later in darkness, the fuzz and fire had naffed off before the fat unemployed people worked out why no Sky tv!

Not sure what you mean m8 in riddle speak you just need the meter to run backwards if thats what you mean

you need an dc cut off -inverter- ac cut off switch -gen meter -consumer unit- meter
