NI is just another form of tax anyway, the government has at last admitted that and is looking to roll NI and tax into one. Won't save any money, in fact the cost will probably go up for some excuse or other.
Lainie - As for your plan on those who are unemployed not being able to rent from private landlords, do you mean to throw everyone in council properties out on the streets because they happen to get a job, but need the space for those that are unemployed? I doubt very much there is enough council run housing to house the unemployed and those that have a job and choose not to buy, or is the plan to force those that work to buy a house? or do you just intend for the unemployed to live in cardboard boxes?
What should happen is that any private rented housing should be capped at the same rate as council housing rent levels by law. That way it would be a level playing field, by any I don't mean just for those on benefits.
