    EU referendum

not sure if this should be in comedy section or not

BBC News - PMQs: Miliband and Cameron on EU referendum and Europe

But whats a referendum for ?

Will i be able to buy lb of mince again????

I dont think it will happen anyway as dont think they will win election but what happens if he did

Does that mean we are out completely and all EU laws abolished??

I personally do not see Europe as a major issue but i dont see why we have to pay money into it to subsidise other countries

There are a few issues working hours minumum wage that have probably been good for the country so would we go back??

Does it mean i cant retire to european sun and pick my money up from UK goverment?

With regards wage i have never understood a system that makes low income earners claim tax credits ect

why take in one hand and give back in another surely not cost effective a living wage should not need to be subsidised especially if they get taxed why tax then give it back??

i understand their maybe needs to be a system in place for part time workers as they would not be able to live but surely a system where full time employees do not need refunds of tax already paid would be a better option

From what I've read he wants to be able to pick and choose what laws he takes form Europe. One specifically mentioned was the working hours directive. I guess all his m8's who own companies want to be able to demand employees work 72 hour weeks instead of employing more people. *shrug* I see no mention of him passing legislation to shorten the working week to say 30 hours.... No reason to specifically mention anything that he doesn't want to change.

When it all comes out we'll see, however I'd guess next would be removal of the minmum wage, they can pay people 50% of the hourly rate, double their hours and still pay the same.

Usually it's what they don't say which speaks volumes.

"go away, get a policy, come back and tell us what it is."

is this man Cameron a total cretin?
like it or not, Labour have had a consistent policy, on the EU, for more than a decade.
which is more than can be said for the Dithering Diaper David, and his xenophobic pals.

Hands up, anyone, who truly has a grasp on all the connections and effect the EU has on the UK?
unless we can all put our hands up to the the above question.
how in merry hell can we vote on it?

        Firemouth rules for life.

If its broke, fix it and use it again!
If it proper broke, use it for something else!

He doesn't want you to vote for the EU. What he's after is saying that he'll let you vote on the EU if you vote for the Tory party at the next election. Of course he's not going to tell you exactly what the vote will be on before you elect the Tories for 5 more years, that'd be more stupid than he is.

As I said he specifically mentioned the working time directive, which means he wants to opt out of it. I await to see his next load of sh*t that he speaks.

The reason for the wages where people have to claim credits. Look at it this way, the employer pays less and the taxpayer picks up for the shortfall. Knowing that's the case, if you owned a company, what would you do and (really important this) who would you vote for?

If I was a greedy self serving bassed I'd vote Conservative so that my payroll bill was less, I kept more cash and the other taxpayers picked up the shortfall. However I'm not and I'd never vote for 'em.

We won't get a vote. They will be just like Labour and lie through their back teeth, then change the wording of the vote and come out with some crud about it not actually being the EU but its now the UE so we can't vote on it as the EU no longer exists.

I think its more about brinkmanship than anything else. He knows that without some leverage he'll be laughed out of any renegotiation of EU terms so the only thing he can do is hint that the UK may be prepared to leave. Unfortunately for him, the only way we could leave is to have a referendum on it which is why this anouncement was made.

I doubt Cameron has any serious intention of pulling us out or of allowing a vote. Its simply a negotiating tactic, a tactic that will likely backfire unless he can convince the frogs and the krauts he's serious, which everybody knows he's not !
