Chocka hospitals go from bed to worse 1 in 3 was full last month

A THIRD of hospitals were so full last month they had no beds available, a shock report revealed yesterday.

One trust was chocka on each of the 22 DAYS it was checked.
Every day, around one in ten has no room for new patients, the damning figures show.

They lift the lid on the crisis in the NHS ? near bursting-point at 95 per cent capacity, way over the 85 per cent safe limit.

Some units admit new patients only by kicking out existing ones, with fears their health is being put at risk.

Ah the Sun, such an enlightened read eh? So if the hospitals had emptied the beds the headline would have been "Hospitals kick out the sick to make room". How are they supposed to win that one:

If they empty beds they'll be accused of kicking sick people out
If they don't empty the beds they get accused of not having enough beds
Government is busy closing hospitals, making hospitals save money by closing wards

How do they win. catch 22, damned if they do, damned if they don't. Well doen the sun for highlighting that nothing has changed or can change. Perhaps it should start a campaign for the government to increase funding like it has claimed instead of telling the NHS it has to save ?20 billion. But it won't because it likes headlines that sells papers to it's below average intelligence readers.

One more thing , why does having no beds mean they're the worst performing?

The real truth is about to come out how they emptied the beds over the years 3,000 more patients have died needlessly in hospital was it becouse of the beds??

Official figures show that they get 0.25% of their budget from parking fees.

Hospitals, like all 'nationalised' institutions around the UK were historically not allowed to make a profit. BT, British Gas, water companites and the like were making massive losses, at least on paper, while they were held in the government of the days hands. Don't you find it odd that they were making massive profits within minutes of being given away at knock down prices? I don't, however the question should be asked, but never will be.

Hospitals are no different, although as I understand it Foundation Trusts are allowed to make a profit, however they will be constrained in doing so, according to the documents that I last read.

I find it very shocking that hospitals are sending people home to die, or whatever they're being accused of lately - it's not that clear because the investigation is still ongoing. However the government has ordered the NHS to save ?20 billion, which the government will obviously keep. The government has also said that it is funding the NHS more than ever, how can this be when it's taking ?20 billion back? Massive contradiction there really, perhaps you'd like to explain that - I know I'd like to see it.

So if an 800 bed hospital closes down, where do the patients that used to use them go? Answer - to other hospitals that are already overcrowded.

Close down an A&E and people have to travel further, ambulances take longer, and people could die. Not rocket science really.

At the end of the day it's all about the money. No money, no treatment, people will die. I have every sympathy for those people and their families. How many deaths will people put up with to save 1p on their tax?

How much is a life worth to the government? One death caused by underfunding is one too many, and control of that money lies with the government, full stop.
