
As the Budget draws closer, the chancellor has been told to spend more on housing.
Chancellor George Osborne has been urged to put housing as the heart of his Budget next week and commit to building 50,000affordable homes.
In an open letter, business campaigners the CBI said a construction-boost is needed to instil confidence in business and consumers.
The lobby group said the chancellor should invest ?1.25 billion in high-growth areas, including housing.
And there should be tax-breaks and incentives on offer to refurbish empty homes. Statistics from charity Empty Homes show there are more than 710,000 empty homes in the UK.
