?We need 50,000 new homes, Chancellor?

As the Budget draws closer, the chancellor has been told to spend more on housing.

Chancellor George Osborne has been urged to put housing as the heart of his Budget next week and commit to building 50,000affordable homes.

In an open letter, business campaigners the CBI said a construction-boost is needed to instil confidence in business and consumers.

The lobby group said the chancellor should invest ?1.25 billion in high-growth areas, including housing.

And there should be tax-breaks and incentives on offer to refurbish empty homes. Statistics from charity Empty Homes show there are more than 710,000 empty homes in the UK.

        hmm,

710,000 empty homes but 50,000 new ones needed ?

Seems like developers are lobbying to profiteer from the present economic climate by convincing a desperate and gullible government that people actually have enough money to buy new homes.

More than likely the developers will take advantage of low interest rates, cheap foreign labour and all sorts of government grants to build unneeded brand new housing on previously untouchable greenfield sites to build up their portfolio of 'leased' property and ensuring an income for many years to come at both taxpayer and tenant expense !

So ?1.25 billion/50,000 homes = (using 100 million as 1 billion) ?1/4 milion for each house just to build? Homes for rich people in the south only I take it.

Not that i care because im thinking of claiming benefits in bulgaria.. but i used to visit liverpool a few year back.. end of the m62 there was some 3-4 storey houses that where earmarked to be demolished..

Next i heared about them was theyve ran out of money and the project has fell through..

My question to cameron and his pikey theiving scum is..

why build new houses when there is plenty empty that need refurbishment??
