Scotland to ban smoking in parks

Smoking is on course to be banned in public parks and other council-controlled outdoor areas, under radical plans to make Scotland ?smoke free? by 2034.

A Scottish Government ?tobacco control? strategy ordered local authorities to ban smoking around their buildings and ordered them to examine where else this prohibition could be extended.

They were told to focus on outdoor areas ?likely to be frequented by children?, such as play areas and public parks, so that youngsters are not exposed to ?smoking behaviours? even outside.

Where can they smoke?? It?s not an illegal substance, they should try to ban smoking in prison and in the car they haven?t succeeded yet.

They'll never make something illegal that they make a profit on, which they do from smoking and drinking, no matter how many people it kills - profit is too high. If hash wasn't illegal they'd be taxing it to death as well. As I think has been said in other threads if they really wanted everyone to lead a healthy life they'd make selling of or possession of tobacco illegal, they won't do that that since it makes a profit, and keeps as people die saves them paying pensions.

Just that banning it in certain areas makes it look like they're doing something worthwhile and makes them popular for some reason.

Banning the smoking has been the best thing to come from the Scottish parliament, but this is taking things a bit too far.
