George Osborne is facing more criticism over welfare after he was photographed getting into a car parked in a disabled space.

The picture shows the Chancellor being picked up by his official car in a restricted bay, after he stopped for lunch at the Magor services on the M4.

Senior Conservative sources said he had been to buy food from McDonald's and was not aware the Land Rover had been illegally parked.

"George does not condone this in any way," one source said.

Richard Hawkes, chief executive of disability charity Scope, told the Daily Mirror the picture revealed "how wildly out of touch the Chancellor is with disabled people in the UK".

"They will see this as rubbing salt in their wounds," he said.

"Many are already struggling to make ends meet, yet the Chancellor's response has been to cut vital financial support and squeeze local care budgets."

didnt know yeh right theres signs and disabled signs painted on the floor in disabled bays, just goes to show they think they are above the law, i hate mps with a vengence they have proof he was illegally parked so should get a ticket thru the door.

disabled bay by exit doors.

i always park in them when buying cinder blocks cerement etc. for safty reasons and will be disabled if trying to push trolly uphill!

do you see disabled people buying bricks? Or do i let the trolly roll into a disabled persons car!

I'm sure MP's are briefed in how not to tell the complete truth,as they generally only speak the parts that they thnk people want to hear without giving facts. I'm surprised that farmers haven't cottoned onto this and employed MP's to speak on their fields

2) To speak to the crops, after all one vegetable speaking to a field full may help them grow

Yet another non story - top politicians and anybody else under police protection routinely park in what the protection officer deems to be the safest low risk location. In effect, the drivers of official vehicles are exempt from a large number of traffic laws, including parking laws, whilst on official business.
