Some may say it's a fishy tale, but cyclist Richard Smith claims he spotted a 4ft crocodile in the River Thames.

But now locals fear something more dangerous is lurking beneath the surface.

Richard is hoping a real-life Crocodile Dundee will come forward to find the Thames terror.

He said: ***8220;I was cycling on my own and I saw what I thought was a bough of a tree with four stubby branches on it close in to the bank.

It could be an alligator gar that someone has released, though they tend to be native of the southern states of the US - may be pssible for them to survive winter here, it does get cold even in the US. I've seen one up close and I'd not like to get my fingers in the way of them
