Jimmy Savile's Cottage Goes Under The Hammer

The Highland cottage owned by disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile will be sold at auction later.

The remote three-bedroom property in Glencoe has been put on the market by trustees of the late DJ's estate for ?100,000.

It was the target of vandals in the aftermath of the revelations with "Jimmy the Beast" spray-painted across the walls.

Savile bought the whitewashed cottage, named Allt Na Reigh, in 1998, and it is being sold at an evening auction hosted by Ross Harper Property Auctions in Glasgow.

The firm describes it as "a traditional refurbished detached cottage an attractive location within scenic Highland countryside" and highlights its proximity to Glencoe Ski Centre.

"The grounds also boast a large outbuilding with one bedroom chalet, log store and there are garden grounds with waterfalls and a large parking area to front," the property website says.

I'd rip their arm off to buy it but you'd be lucky to get it for less than ?250,000. You'd make a killing as a hostel. As for Jimmy he only owned it for a few years and was hardly there. Previously it was owned by Hamish MacInnes who is famous amongst mountaineers.
